FLECSLAB project presented at ECREA 2024
From September 24-27, the University of Ljubljana hosted ECREA 2024: The 10th European Communication Conference, which brought together communication specialists from across Europe to explore the critical role of media and communication in today’s society.
Under the theme "Communication & Social (Dis)Order," the conference examined how disruptions in politics, economics, health, and technology are reshaping communication and contributing to a new social (dis)order.
EUTOPIA participated in the event by presenting the FLECSLAB Project, which focuses on reducing the negative effects of digital divide among individuals aged 60 and older. To this end, specific content has been created to help this group effectively use new technologies and to get informed correctly without spreading misinformation. Additionally, a workshop has been organized to train them in identifying fake news online.
Professors Christopher Tulloch and Aleix Martí from the UPF delivered the project overview during a recorded online session. According to the ECREA session chair, the video was played to a packed room, was given a big round of applause afterwards and sparked discussions in the room afterwards about media literacy.
