We welcome Eda Gemi as a new member of EuroMedMig´s Steering Committee

Dr. Eda Gemi is a Political Sociologist specialized in governance of migration and integration. She is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New York Tirana and a Research Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute (EUI), Florence, Italy (since 2010). In the period 2018-2019 she was a Visiting Researcher at the ISR – Institute for Urban and Regional Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. Currently, she serves as the national correspondent for migration in preparing the annual SOPEMI report and representing Greece at OECD Network of International Migration Experts.

Dr. Gemi has authored three books on migration, integration and transnationalism, and the EU-Western Balkan migration system. Her monograph (co-authored with Anna Triandafyllidou) “Rethinking Migration and Return in Southeastern Europe: Albanian Mobilities to and from Italy and Greece” is expected to be published by the Routledge in 2020. She has published many articles in refereed journals (e.g., International Review of Sociology), book volumes (e.g., Oxford University Press) and media.

She was awarded from London Metropolitan University, UK a PhD in Business and Law with a focus on migration and integration. She holds a Master of Arts in Southeast European Studies from the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration of University of Athens.
