Brief Description of the Thesis

My PhD focuses on how to make machines understand better human language. Specifically, I focus on how structured knowledge (like Wikipedia, Wiktionary or Wikidata) makes intelligent systems better at understanding and generating language. I have applied this intuition to several linguistic phenomena, such as hypernymy, domain pertinence and collocations.

Experience as a PhD student

I will forever be grateful to my supervisor Horacio Saggion who supported my application back in 2013 and gave me the opportunity to learn alongside his team and the other members at the TALN research group. As a PhD student, I have learned a lot in my field, but also had the opportunity to travel, network, teach and organize events and conferences. This experience has overall been a blast and I hope it has only been the beginning of many more future collaborations.
