  • ORGANISATION/COMPANY  Universitat Pompeu Fabra - ETIC
  • RESEARCH FIELD  Neurosciences
  • APPLICATION DEADLINE  30/07/2018 23:00 - Europe
  • TYPE OF CONTRACT  Temporary

  • OFFER STARTING DATE  01/09/2018
  • EU RESEARCH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME FP7

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in a multi-disciplinary project to study neuro-cognitive development in infants using functional near-infrared & diffusion correlation (fNIRS & fDCS) spectroscopies coupled with EEG recording. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with the Medical Optics research group led by Prof. Turgut Durduran at ICFO (Barcelona).

The Speech Acquisition and Perception Group and the Medical Optics research group have an on-going collaboration to utilize a newly developed fNIRS and fDCS system alongside EEG to study speech acquisition and perception in infants. We are carrying out studies in advanced protocols while developing new probes, new instrumentation and analysis routines for the fNIRS and fDCS data.

Requierements and conditions:

Candidates must hold an internationally recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the near future) in a relevant field.

Scientific background: Previous experience with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) or diffuse optics in general for biomedicine including data analysis procedures, probe-development and instrumentation. Knowledge in diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) and EEG methods are a plus. Experience with infant or child data would be considered.

A strong publication record and the contact information of three referees is needed. Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. No restrictions of citizenship or gender.

We offer onsite laboratory facilities (http://cbclab.upf.edu) and a highly interdisciplinary and active research environment at the Center for Brain and Cognition.
