Intelligent Multimodal Vision Analysis (IMVA)
Coloma Ballester is Full Professor (CU) of Applied Mathematics at our Department. She obtained a degree in Mathematics at the U. Autònoma de Barcelona, a Master "Mathématiques Appliquées à l'Ingénierie" at the U. Paris-IX in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the U. Illes Balears in 1995. After her Ph.D., she worked at UIB until 1997, and at the CNRS at IHP in Paris in 1998. Her research has been devoted to the development of models and algorithms for image processing and computer vision and to their mathematical analysis. She currently works on theory and applications in image and video analysis and computer vision, and she is currently interested in both model-based and data-driven strategies, together with its mathematical analysis. In particular, her research interests include generative models and its use for solving inverse problems in imaging, geometric and semantic analysis and understanding of the dynamic content of videos using multimodal information (including particular contexts such as sports analysis or film analysis), cross-modal relationships and understanding, unsupervised learning, data representation, variational models, non-local methods and its applications, visual perception and its modeling.
