Encapsulation methods for injectable electronic implants
Postdoctoral researcher on assembly and encapsulation methods for injectable electronic implants
In the context of an ERC Consolidator Grant recently awarded, the Biomedical Electronics Research Group (BERG) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position to carry out research on assembly and encapsulation methods for injectable electronic implants. Candidates should hold a PhD degree in engineering and have an excellent scientific-technical background in biomedical engineering and ample experience in encapsulation methods for electronic implants. Experience in the following areas will be positively valued (not in order of preference): electrical stimulation, micromachining, animal experimentation, mechanical characterization of implants, biocompatibility assays, numerical simulations, hermeticity, glass and ceramic machining, silicones and electrical connections. If interested, please apply by submitting a motivation letter, your curriculum vitae and the contact details of three putative referees as a single pdf. Please indicate the advert number (eAXON-PD2).
The project supported by the ERC Consolidator Grant (eAXON) is intended to explore an innovative method for implementing neuroprosthetic systems based on injectable microstimulators. The microstimulators to be developed will be much thinner than current microstimulators and, more significantly, most of their volume will consist of materials whose density and flexibility match those of neighboring living tissues for minimizing invasiveness.
