Piella Fenoy, Gema

Gemma Piella is Full Professor at UPF. She obtained her degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, and a PhD in Applied Sciences from the Universiteit van Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From 2003 to 2004, she was at UPC as a visiting professor. She then stayed at Télécom Paris, as a postdoctoral Marie Curie fellowship until 2005. Since then, she has been at UPF, first as a visiting professor, then as a Ramón y Cajal researcher, and currently as a Full Professor. 

Her research focuses on medical image analysis and machine learning for personalised medicine. Her research work has led to >170 peer-reviewed publications in journals, book chapters, and conferences in both methodological and clinical fields. She has participated in several national and international research projects, some of them as IP.
