This issue of Hipertext.net proposes a critical look that allows mapping the current state of Latin American non-fiction productions, by historicizing their development, analyzing their intrinsic characteristics, reviewing their narrative design, circulation and consumption, and also identifying the challenges and opportunities they face.

The interactive and transmedia documentary in Latin America has already been developed and consolidated for more than two decades. Throughout its extensive geography it is possible to recognize some very active production poles in the search for innovative formats, and in the experimentation with new technologies to tell stories of the order of reality. This issue of Hipertext.net proposes a critical look that allows mapping the state of the issue, historicizing their productions, analyzing their intrinsic characteristics, reviewing their experiences of narrative design, circulation and consumption, and also identifying the challenges and opportunities that arise for interactive and transmedia non-fiction in this region of the world.

 

The guest editors for this number, Fernando Irigaray and Anahí Lovato, are pleased to invite researchers and producers of interactive documentaries and transmedia to submit their proposals at: https://raco.cat/index.php/Hipertext/announcement/view/90. The proposed topics are presented as guidelines, although they are not exclusive:

  • The interactive and transmedia documentary in Latin America: theoretical approaches, history, evolution, conceptual definitions.
  • Latin American interactive documentary and journalistic productions and transmedia: case analysis.
  • Interactive and transmedia narrative design in Latin America: production experiences.
  • Interactive, participatory, collaborative and co-creative strategies in interactive documentaries and Latin American transmedia.
  • Main thematic lines, production poles, influences, references and Latin American schools: the role of the media and universities.
  • Use of audiovisual, sound, photographic, infographic and animated languages ​​in non-fiction transmedia and interactive projects in Latin America.
  • Links and connections between narrative and territory in Latin American projects: expanded territoriality in interactive and transmedia non-fiction.
  • Gamification and immersion in Latin American non-fiction.
  • Challenges, challenges and opportunities for non-fiction interactive and transmedia production in Latin America.
  • The role of technologies, platforms, social networks and the involvement of new users.
