Isis Sanpera Calbet is a Postdoc and a field sampling technician at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona) where she participates within the Human-Mosquito Interaction Project (https://h-mip.com/). Her work mainly consists of the sampling and identification of mosquitoes in the Barcelona area to analyse their spatio-temporal distribution and the factors that determine it; these data are used to model and make predictions of the risk of human exposure to mosquitoes that are vectors of diseases. The group is also working on the networks of interactions between the tiger mosquito and humans through their bites and the analysis of the blood they contain. She is currently a team member of the Mosquito Alert (MA) citizen science project. Likewise, she is part of the ReNED (Red Nacional de Entomólogos Digitales) as an expert, validating photos sent by citizens to the MA app.

She is a biologist, specialist in aquatic ecology. Her doctoral thesis and master's degree at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) focused on the effects of global change (drought and eutrophication) and riparian forest management on the functioning of headwater streams. Her relationship with the study of mosquitoes began as a researcher at the Servei de Control de Mosquits (SCM) del Baix Llobregat, participating in the MA project on the passive dispersion of the tiger mosquito, and as a technician sampling urban and natural areas for mosquito control. She has developed her scientific activity at the UB and UPF (Barcelona, Catalonia), CNRS (Toulouse, France) and University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada), always working as a team.
