Research Week Program took place from 9th to 13th December 2019 as part of the communication doctoral program (UPF). The event was held in the auditorium on the Communication Campus-Poblenou.

On Tuesday 10th December, CritiCC research group was presented to first-year PhD candidates in communication. During the morning session, Pilar Medina (CritiCC’s Coordinator, PhD) showed the latest web updates. Furthermore, she shared with the audience the two current research projects: Mobile Intimacy (Principal Investigator: Carles Roca, PhD) and THINK Clima (Principal Investigator: Núria Almiron, PhD).

After the introduction, four CritiCC researchers (third-year PhD students) Laura Fernández, María Carreras, Jwana Aziz and Metzeri Sánchez presented their thesis. Specific recommendations were proposed to facilitate the work of the first-year doctoral students. In addition, the main difficulties and PhD challenges were emphasized. At the end there was a space for a lively question and answer period. Participants took the opportunity to check research doubts.

In the afternoon, Laura Fernández and María Carreras hosted the workshop “Language and power: Tools to communicate without discriminating”. The main objetive was to encourage to develop more inclusive research practices. The topics covered a range of subjects including: intersectionality, sexism, anthropocentrism and speciesism.
