Rafael Ventura gives a lecture on heteronormativity, LGBTI-phobia and the media construction of gender/sexual identities

Rafael Ventura gave a lecture for the Power and Gender Diversity in the Media course on Wednesday, 4 October. His presentation focused on heteronormativity, LGBTI-phobia and the media construction of gender/sexual identities. As the first class of the trimester, Rafael’s master class provided an important foundation of knowledge for MA students delving into power and gender topics in more detail throughout the course.
 
Rafael Ventura holds a Master's Degree in Social Communication from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and another Master's Degree in International Peace, Conflict and Development Studies from the Universitat Jaume I (UJI). He is currently a doctoral researcher in Communication at UPF, where he has also taught in the Degree of Journalism and in the Degree of Advertising and Public Relations. His research interests focus on LGBT+, surrogacy and heteronormativity, with an emphasis on media representation, audience and media effects.
