I’m currently investigating the impact that changes in local brain dynamics have on global aspects of communication and coherence by using whole-brain modeling of ongoing resting-state activity. I’m particularly interested in the effect that Deep Brain Stimulation has in terms of global communicability and integration and for this I’m using models applied to patients with Parkinson’s Disease. I am also addressing the brain of stroke patients to explore how local lesioning (both artificial and empirical) affects global features of information flow and efficiency. I’m very interested in random walks, diffusion of information and criticality. Some other minor projects that I’m currently working on include examining the local features that facilitate the transition between sleep and awake as well as to explore the consistency of local brain dynamics across scanning sessions.
