CMTech is a research group belonging to the Information and Comunication Technologies Department (DTIC or ICT Department) of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (located in Barcelona). Its research is focussed on Computer Vision & Human-Computer Interaction to address human behavior understanding and interaction with the world, designing and analysing different cues related with human non-verbal communication. The Full-Body Interaction Laboratory (FuBIntLab) within the group focuses its research on how body, space and socialization can have an impact on HCI.

The project team is composed of Ciera Crowell, Andrea Bravo, Batuhan Sayis, and Andrea ParamithiottiThe project was chosen among the top 12 entries in the Student Design Competition among a pool of entries from international research teams. The team will travel to Montreal in April to present the project in the upcoming CHI 2018 conference, where it will compete for the first prize. The project team is composed of two PhD candidates, Ciera Crowell and Batuhan Sayis, and two master students, Andrea Bravo and Andrea Paramithiotti, all currently working in the FubIntLab. The project has been supervised by Narcís Parés

The Design Brief: Engaging Communities

The new project aims to address the student competition's 2018 scope of Engaging Communities by creating a classroom adapted virtual environment as a tool for social inclusion. In this project, children with social disabilities can collaborate with their peers through open-ended play activities. The Student Design Competition is in its 16th year, and aims to spotlight projects in the Human Computer Interaction domain which demonstrate an understanding of user experience and interaction design.
