This building block focuses on the necessary compliance with personal data protection legislation in Europe and Spain when devising and conducting a research project. The block is structured as a course with three modules: (a) a general introduction to personal data protection; (b) an introduction to the principles, obligations, and requirements of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR); and (c) a discussion of security standards. At the end of each module, you will find a short test that you need to answer correctly in order to pass the course. To access the course, go to Aula Global.

The personal data protection block was designed as a course geared towards the UPF community as a whole and it is thus not specific to research activities. Even though the general concepts discussed are relevant to everyone, some of the particular issues touched upon may be more or less relevant for research, so perhaps you can focus your attention on those issues you deem most relevant.
