In April 2016, the selection of singular institutional projects of construction, acquisition, habilitation and / or substantial expansion of buildings for R & D infrastructures that made possible the generation of subcestiable excellence research to be co-funded was made public by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) in the framework of the call published by Resolution ECO / 1823/2015, of July 29.

The project "Habilitació d’espais per a Infraestructures de recerca en el camp del Cervell Humà" from the UPF, was one of the selected ones, which allowed the works to adapt the spaces and the acquisiition of new equipment for the Neurocience laboratories.
A total of €1 million has been invested in the laboratory infrastructure and in the purchase of research equipment. The UPF has received a ERDF 2014-2020 grant in 2016 (ref. 2015 FEDER S-06), administered by the Secretariat for Universities and Research of the Department of Economy and Knowledge of the Government of Catalonia, of €0,5 million as part of a call for singular projects for the construction of R&D facilities and research equipment.
