Speech Production & Bilingualism
PhD Student

I originally studied biology for my bachelors, focusing on marine mammal communication. I followed with a masters in animal behavior studying zebra finches and zebra fishes. Throughout those studies, I became more interested in languages rather than animal communication, and came to Barcelona to pursue another masters in cognitive science and languages.

I am currently doing my PhD, examining how speech (language and accents) influence the ways we categorize people into social in- and out-groups.  I look at how this categorization affects low level processing of faces and speech using ERPs. I am also very interested in the way someone's race plays a role in the ways we perceive them. On a personal level, I am multilingual, biracial, and bicultural, so these are topics that interest me greatly.
