I am interested in the process of phytolith formation in relation to water availability/environmental changes, and in the modelling of the process for archaeological application. Lately, I have been approaching the study of silicon and oxygen isotopic content in phytoliths in response to transpiration flow to directly answer archaeological questions related to agricultural development, water management and land use.
