We learn about advertising

A session for the students of the Escola Sant Martí was undertaken at UPF participated in the game "We learn about Advertising", a pedagogical strategy to sensitize and educate about the images of advertising and its effects.

This workshop aims to introduce a pedagogical strategy for the critical understanding of body image in advertising. The activity presents concepts such as persuasive advertising, stereotypes and sexism. The main strategies used in advertising food, toys, personal hygiene products, etc. are discussed. It reflects on the main risks of unhealthy advertising. The workshop is based on a dialogical approach to learning: the knowledge and experience of children in front of television and the game as a learning context. Its objective is the formation of skills for the analysis of the advertising message, as well as the training of responsible citizen-consumers.

In this session the students of the Escola Sant Martí will participate in the game "We learn about Advertising", a pedagogical strategy to sensitize and educate about the images of advertising and its effects. The visiting group was divided into 5 participating teams. Each team with its monitor attended a game board separately. The game consists of crossing 45 squares with activities and challenges. The slogan will carry out these activities to successfully conclude the game. In the game, concepts related to advertising and body image have been introduced. An attempt was made to raise awareness of the main advertising strategies used by advertisers. At the same time, knowledge of the rights that children have as consumers-citizens were promoted, as well as the culture of the denunciation of illicit advertising, not responsible or healthy. The activity concluded with the administration of a questionnaire.
