The Mediacorp Event was a great success

Tuesday 6th of February the MediaCorp project of our research group organized a conference about Advertising and Body Image: ¿Mi cuerpo me gusta? (Do I like my body?) inaugurated by Dr. Josep Fernández-Cavia, head of the Communication Department at UPF and research member of our group and Mònika Jiménez Morales main researcher of the project and Senior Lecturer in the Communication Department at UPF.

Tuesday 6th of February the MediaCorp project of our research group organized a conference about Advertising and Body Image: ¿Mi cuerpo me gusta? (Do I like my body?) inaugurated by Dr. Josep Fernández-Cavia, head of the Communication Department at UPF and research member of our group and Mònika Jiménez Morales main researcher of the project and Senior Lecturer in the Communication Department at UPF. 

 

The program of the Conference included a round table of presentations and discussions in the morning from 10 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. by the Fundación Imagen y Autoestima, Gasol Foundation and the psychologist and journalist Jaume Funés. Followed by a round table  from 12 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. titled: “Advertising, what sells us? and How do you sell us?” Moderated by Dra. Elena Añaños from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and with the participation of the “Col·legi de Publicitaris i Relacions Públiques de Catalunya”, the agency “The Modern Kids” and “FACUA”

    

     

 

After a coffee break, the conference was followed up from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with two different panels: "Publicity and gender stereotypes", that counted with the participation of Yolanda Domínguez, visual artist, photographer and activist, Raül López from the Center for the Equality and Resources per les Dones (CIRD) of the Ajuntament de Barcelona and Jordi Ubeda from the Abacus Cooperativa; and in parallel the "Maternity and Body Image" panel, moderated by Dra. Lorena Gómez professor of Communication at UPF, that counted with the participation of Sara Bujalance from the Association against Anorexia and Bulimia, Patricia Montull from the Montull Clinic and Mariona Visa, an expert in Audiovisual Communication from the Universitat de Lleida (UdL) blogger (Ara Criatures) and author of several books on the representation of motherhood in the media.
