Meet our new Ph.D. candidates: Lorena Abuin, Anna Ventura, Noélia Herrero and Marta Lopera

The research group CAS welcomes the new Ph.D. candidates: Lorena Abuin, Noélia Herrero, Anna Ventura and Marta Lopera. 



The research group CAS welcomes four new Ph.D. candidates: Lorena Abuin, Anna Ventura, Noélia Herrero and Marta Lopera. 

Lorena Abuin's thesis proposal is titled: "Effective internal communication in power dynamics school, enterprise and government". Her Research interests are: governance, power dynamics, strategic communication, persuasion and behavioral sciences. She is currently working as an Assistant Manager Vice President at the Australian College of Kuwait. She holds a B.A. in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University and a MBA from the Universidad Europea de Madrid (Spain). Her Thesis is directed by Dr. Lluís Mas Manchón.




Anna Ventura's thesis proposal is titled:"La producción informativa sobre las mujeres refugiadas sirias en la prensa española: La triple discriminación” / "The informative production about women refugee in Spanish media: The triple discrimination.". Her Research interests are: refugees studies, youth, gender studies,interculturality and communication. She has a B.A. degree in Social and Cultural Antrophology from the Complutense University of Madrid and M.A. of Film and TV Script from the Madrid Film Institute and a M.A. in Social Communication from Pompeu Fabra University. Her Thesis is directed by Dra. Mònica Figueras Maz.



Noélia Herrero's thesis proposal is titled: "Microinfluencer. The new influencers".


Marta Lopera'thesis proposal is titled:" The representation of mental illness in the TV series: My Mad Fat Diary, Mr. Robot and Atypical". She is currently holding a scholarship as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the CAS research group at the Communication Department at Pompeu Fabra University. Her Research interests are: media psychology, American-British TV series, postmodern philosophy, aesthetic and audiovisual narrative, science fiction and dystopia. She has a B.A. degree in Audiovisual Communication from University of Barcelona and M.A. in Social Communication from Pompeu Fabra University. Her Thesis is co-directed by Dra. Mònika Jiménez and Dr. Manel Jiménez. 







CAS is pre-consolidated group 2017 SGR 00485 (AGAUR). Also an interdisciplinary group that studies the communication phenomena in the intersection between two areas: communication and advertising, on one hand; and individual and society, on the other hand.

The work of CAS has focused on three branches of study:

-Tourist brands and place branding.

-Influence of advertising messages on body image of children and adolescents.

-Sound studies and psychophysiological measures.

Consequently, it promotes the combined use of quantitative and qualitative techniques in order to achieve a deeper understanding of how communication and advertising influence people’s individual and social behaviour.

The research group belongs to the Department of Communication, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona (Spain).
