I have been very pleased to take part in the Conference "Lay Advocacy in the Pre-modern World" (28-29 May 2018), organised by Prof. Mia Korpiola and the Law School of the University of Turku (Finland). "Learning by doing" was the leit-motiv of several contributions of our meeting. Coherently, we concluded that there is still a lot of research to be done on history of both lay and formal advocacy and other legal professions (sollicitors, notaries...).
