Student profile: local and international alike

The Barcelona International Summer School has been designed to satisfy the expectations of students with a good academic standing.

The program is open to all UPF undergraduate students and students from other universities who want to take advantage of the summer to advance in their studies and obtain credits.

Admission requirements:

  • 2nd, 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students 
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA (7 out of 10 or a B+).
  • A good command of the language of instruction of the course.

 

Application process

UPF students who meet the admission requirements can enrol at BISS courses (*) as part of the academic offering of Credits de Formació Transversal de Lliure Elecció (FTLE), and following the regular procedures to register in FTLE courses. BISS courses can be found at the FTLE website by using the filter "4th term" or introducing "BISS" at the searcher. Application dates for to the BISS 2023 are March 8 & 9 and April 17 to June 15.

BISS grades will close on September 15. If you are a UPF student, bear in mind that you'll be allowed to register for next academic year courses on July even if you have pending grades from the BISS. Should you need to transfer BISS grades to your UPF record before, please, contact us at [email protected].

(*) UPF students from the Degree of International Business Economics can only enrol in courses taught in English

The online application period for non-UPF students is open until June 15th, 2023. You should first register in the UPF system by introducing your personal data: REGISTER – STEP 1

If you can't find your home university on the list, please let us know by email.

 

Once registered, please complete the online application: REGISTER – STEP 2

Click on "Mobility", select "Barcelona International Summer School", and fill in the online form with your personal and academic details and upload the required documents (.PDF, 9MB maximum). If you don’t upload them, you won’t be able to finish the process:

  • A photocopy of your identity card or passport.
  • A passport-size picture (max 75kb). It must be passport-style (without sunglasses or hat, with a plain background).
  • A photocopy of your transcript of records.
  • Health insurance document. It must explicitly state that all medical emergencies and repatriation are covered.

UPF BISS staff will validate the documents and contact back with course enrolment instructions in a maximum period of 5 working days.
