PhD Student

Nicolás Gastón Rozado is an Argentinian PhD candidate and teaching assistant in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Under the supervision of Héctor Geffner, he’s currently working on planning and learning with a strong focus on Cognitive Science.

He is mainly interested in AI as a way of modelling cognitive architectures (not necessarily human). He has a keen interest in physics as well (chaos, quantum).

He obtained his M.Sc. at UPF in 2017, cursing the program “Brain and Cognition”, where he did his thesis in Theoretical Neuroscience under the advice of Gustavo Deco.

Before that, he obtained his bachelor’s in Psychology (Cognitive Science specialization) at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2016. While studying psychology he did research internships at CIMeC (University of Trento, Italy) with Nathan Weisz’s group, and at CCNi (University of Glasgow, UK) under the supervision of Christian Keitel and Joachim Gross. During the last year he received an scholarship (Beca de Colaboración) for taking part on a research project about Behavioural Genetics and the reward system under the advice of Evelio Huertas. His thesis “Free Will, an Illusion?” was awarded a “Matrícula de Honor” distinction.
