Pablo Aragón is a PhD candidate at the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning group - Universitat Pompeu Fabra, under the supervision of Dr. Vicenç Gómez and Dr. Andreas Kaltenbrunner. He also works as a researcher at Eurecat, Centre Tecnològic de Catalunya (formerly, Barcelona Media), and has been a visiting scholar at the Oxford Internet Institute (University of Oxford). His research focuses on the effects of digital platforms on citizen participatory processes, as well as communication dynamics and information diffusion in the context of emerging grassroot movements. Pablo is also an active collaborator of Decidim, the free open source platform for participatory democracy launched by the Barcelona City Council, and a co-founder member of the Laboratory for Democratic Innovation and the DatAnalysis15M research network.
Pablo obtained a MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia – UNED in 2016, and a MSc in Computer Science & Engineering at the Universidad de Zaragoza in 2010, which included a full year at Luleå Tekniska Universitet (Sweden). He also attended the 1st Summer School on Methods for Computational Social Science and the 1st Summer School of the Network of Excellence in Internet Science.
