M. Teresa Cabré

Full professor on Terminology and Linguistics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) from 1994. She founded the University Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA) and she was its director from 1994 to 2004. Now she is Emeritus Professor, developing teaching and research activities.

She also found the IULATERM research group at IULA. IULATERM became a recognized research group in the field of Applied Linguistics for Lexicon (Lexicology, Terminology, Neology, Specialized Discourse and related Technologies). She was the Principal Investigator of this research group from 1994 to 2014.

She was the founder of the Observatori de Neologia in 1989 at Universitat de Barcelona, which was moved to UPF in 1994 as a research project. Nowadays, the Observatori de Neologia is more than a project: it is a transfer and development unit, witch offers services, develops linguistic resources and coordinates several networks of neology observatories around the world.

In 2014, the President of UPF entrusted the Pompeu Fabra Chair to Professor M. Teresa Cabré.

She is full member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC) from 1989. On June 2014 she was elected as President of the Secció Filològica of IEC (Catalan Academy for Language).
