What is hipertext.net?

Hipertext.net is an academic publication created and promoted by the Information Science area of the Department of Communication in Universitat Pompeu Fabra. This publication is part of the activities of the Grupo de Investigación en Documentación Digital y Comunicación Interactiva (Digital Documentation and Interactive Communication Research Group, DigiDoc), a group recognized by the university, and also part of the Unidad de Investigación en Periodismo y Documentación Digital (Journalism and Documentation Research Unit) recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Due to being published as a yearbook, hipertext.net privileges the states of the art and the results of research projects secured by the DigiDoc group through competitive calls. Nonetheless, Hipertext.net also provides with an open space for other national and international groups and researchers willing to publicize their states of the art, case studies, conceptual models and research results related to Digital Information Science and Interactive Communication in general, having been equally secured through competitive calls.

Procedures and evaluation

Hipertext.net has an Editorial Board and an international Advisory Board who set the editorial guidelines for each issue. The Editorial Board holds a proactive policy by commissioning works to experts in every field, which does not preclude the proposals any researcher in the field might send to be considered if their work presents the previously indicated conditions. Precedence will be given to the presentation of results stemming from competitive calls.

Once the text is received, also if it is an article commissioned by the Editorial Board, the editorial team of the journal reviews it in the next fifteen days. If considered of interest and fulfilling the acceptance criteria expressed in the Goals section, the article is sent to two referees for its evaluation, which does not preclude resorting to third referees if required by the subject matter of the article or if disagreements arise between the referees. Considering their resulting reports, the editor of the yearbook will decide whether to publish the text or not.
