Max Dieckmann is a PhD student in the Department of Information and Communications Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. He completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science in Berlin, Germany at the Freie Universität before working in the industry as a programmer for two years, developing full-stack applications for business clients. He came to Barcelona to resume his studies and subsequently completed the Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media master program at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

His work experience and background made him proficient in most things related to programming, in particular web-development. His research combines his technical skills with his interest in the science of learning --- both in understanding the underlying biological processes and in how methods based on new insights cab be brought into the classrooms.
