The Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of “Quantitative Political Methodology” starting in January of 2020.

 

Candidates must have advanced training in quantitative methods combined with a strong research and teaching interest in empirical Political Science, and hold a PhD in Political Science or imminent completion. The position is open with respect to the sub-field of specialization in Political Science (e.g. Comparative Politics, Public Policy, Political Economy, Iberian Politics, International Relations). Candidates must also have an outstanding research trajectory, as evidenced by existing publications in top journals or with leading book publishers in Political Science.  

 

The successful candidate will have to be able to teach courses in causal inference, experimental methods, and quasi-experimental approaches to observational data to both undergraduate (in Catalan and/or Spanish) and graduate students (in English). Teaching duties may include courses at both undergraduate and/or graduate level (around 160 hours per year). She or he should also actively contribute to the administration of the Department. The successful candidate is also expected to join and collaborate in the “Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology”

( https://www.upf.edu/web/survey). The gross salary is 35.596€ per year.

 

 

Our department combines research in Political Science, Political Psycology,  Demography, Sociology, Criminology and Industrial Relations. It offers degrees at both the undergraduate and doctoral level.

 

Recruitment procedure:

  • A letter of application describing applicant’s teaching experience, scholarly interests and achievements, and potential contribution to the Department.

  • Two letters of reference.

  • A CV with a detailed list of publications and their ranking in the JCR (Journal Impact Factor, quartile and area).

  • Teaching evaluations if posible
