Professor Benach will coordinate the Government's Expert Commission on Labor Precariousness and Mental Health

21.04.2022

The Spanish Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, presented the multidisciplinary Commission last Thursday, composed of 12 members and coordinated by Prof. Benach, with the objective of preparing a report on labour precariousness and mental health.

In the presentation of the Commission, Professor Benach highlighted that better data and analysis, better legislation and better policies are needed to reduce labor precariousness and improve workers' mental health. "To make good proposals and effective interventions, we must adequately diagnose the reality and answer four fundamental questions: What is job insecurity and how can we measure it? What are the situation, distribution, evolution and causes of job insecurity in our country? What is the impact of labor precariousness on mental health? Which policies should we put in place to reduce precariousness and improve mental health?" said Benach.

The main objective of the Commission will be to answer these questions and offer policy recommendations that will help improve the current situation.
