Thesis Brief Description:
My thesis focuses on improving co-design processes of Full-Body interactive learning experiences with children in intergenerational teams. To research techniques that promote children's embodied awareness and focus on their expertise in movement, playfulness and socialization, I present the design and analysis of three Full-Body interactive experiences. Based on this research, I propose a set of Embodied Design Thinking qualities to understand the benefits and limitations of these techniques. On the other hand, the findings of this research have led to the definition of a preliminary Full-Body Interaction co-design method (FUBImethod). This method entails a set of clearly defined steps to help interaction designers in guiding intergenerational teams with children to understand and foster the role of the body in a Full-Body Interaction experience.

Experience as a PhD Student:

Before returning to university, I had worked as designer in the new media industry. My thesis project gave me the opportunity to explore my profession as designer from an interdisciplinary perspective and adopt a theoretical lens on my design-based practice. Personally, my most important experience during my projects was the continuous challenge to “think outside the box” and be more reflective about my work and those of others. Furthermore, during my time as PhD candidate, I have been involved in interesting projects with different stakeholders such as local museums, theatres, schools, etc. and attended several international conferences (CHI, IDC, ACE). Through this, I was able to expand my professional network on a local but also international level.
