The UPF Department of Economics and Business is excited to announce that six of its professors have been awarded research grants: five professors have been awarded Ramón y Cajal grants, and one professor has been awarded a Juan de la Cierva grant. This funding will allow them to continue groundbreaking research in a wide range of topics and strengthens the department's research agenda and scientific reputation internationally.

The Department is constantly striving to be a leading research institution and these grants are a big step in the right direction.

Ramón y Cajal grants are given by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, and aimed at promoting the incorporation of national and foreign researchers with outstanding careers in research centres. The grants provide support for the recruitment of excellent post-doctoral researchers as well as creation of permanent jobs. Awarded investigators are chosen for the strength of their of prior academic and research work, and are chosen from a wide variety of scientific fields.

Juan de la Cierva grants are given by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency, and the Spanish Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to selected young researchers who have recently received their PhDs. Applying for such grants is a competitive process, and candidates are chosen both based on their academic merits and on the record of the research team where they wish to integrate.
