The UPF Department of Economics and Business is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Professor Moha Ghaderi, who has been chosen for the 2024 Bernard Roy Award by the Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO). The prize, conferred by the EURO Working Group on Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding (EWG MCDA), recognises exceptional contributions to methodology and applications by a researcher under the age of 40. Prof. Ghaderi received the award during the joint conference of the Decision Analysis and Behavioral OR societies in Catania, Italy, on September 26, 2024.

The Bernard Roy Award celebrates groundbreaking research that advances Decision Sciences. Prof. Ghaderi's work integrates cutting-edge methodologies from decision sciences, bounded rationality, and computational methods to tackle complex decision-making challenges.

At the award ceremony Prof. Ghaderi delivered a keynote lecture titled "What Makes for a Good Decision? Rationality, Choice, and Beyond." The presentation explored the epistemic and methodological aspects of interdisciplinary approaches to nonparametric choice models and preference disaggregation methods, highlighting how these methods are uniquely suited to study human decision-making across many domains.

"I am happy to have been able to represent UPF in this unique event," Prof. Ghaderi noted. "I am humbled and thankful to the jury for selecting me as the 2024 laureate. Big thanks to my colleagues and awesome co-authors in the past several years for their collaborations."

Prof. Ghaderi joined the UPF in 2017, and is also a Ramón y Cajal Fellow. He recieved his PhD in Management Sciences from ESADE Business School, where he was awarded the ESADE Best PhD Thesis Prize and the EDAMBA Doctoral Thesis Award. His research has received several distinctions, including the Omega Journal Best Paper Award and the INFORMS MCDM Junior Researcher Best Paper Award. His areas of interest include multiple criteria decision aiding, choice modeling, and machine learning, with applications in areas ranging from public health to marketing analytics.
