You can also check our 2023/24 academic calendar. You will realize that the academic year is divided into three terms of ten weeks each, followed by two weeks of exams. Your stay can last one, two or three terms, depending on the agreement we have with your university.

Teaching Organization

The Faculty of Communication offers three Bachelor degrees:

  • Audiovisual Communication (Film and Media)
  • Journalism
  • Advertising and Public Relations

Our subjects usually have a course load between 4 ECTS credits, equivalent to 100 hours of work by the student, including class attendance, seminars, presentations, group work, individual study and examinations.

The normal course load is 20 ECTS credits each term, so that our students usually take a total of 60 ECTS credits every academic year. It is therefore advised to take a maximum of 20 ECTS credits per term. Please note that first term courses are highly demanded. As a result, it may turn to be difficult to register for more than 20 ECTS credits.

Course Information

Since our courses are highly demanded, it is important that you make a good initial selection to avoid changes. In this page you will find our range of courses, their language and timetables and also academic information to find the more appropriate courses for your curriculum.

Assessment, examinations and grades

Most subjects assess attendance and participation (especially at seminars), hand-in of individual and/or group assignments, and presentations. In addition, there is usually a partial examination and a final examination. Please note that the final exam may be very strongly weighted in the final grade (between 60% and 80%, or even more) and a minimum grade in the examination (e.g. 4) is sometimes required in order to pass the course. If in doubt, talk about it with your classmates or contact your lecturer.

Grades at UPF range from 0 to 10. The minimum pass grade is 5, and excellent grades are obtained from 9 upwards.

Examination period: the examination dates are published on Aula Global with plenty of advance notice. You have to check the timetable to find the date and the classroom by using the course code, to avoid confusion. If there is a timetable clash between two examinations, contact your lecturers (and/or the mobility coordinator) to find a solution.

Resit examination: you must generally have participated during the term and failed the course in order to be eligible for the resit examination; consult the syllabus for the eligibility requirements for the resit examinations. Resit exams must be taken at UPF.

The examination timetable for each course will be published on your Student Intranet / Aula Global at the beginning of each term.

Check the academic calendar before booking your flights!

Official grades and revisions

Grades are published on Aula Global and you may also consult them on your phones and devices. The instructor will inform about the date of publication.
