Study about 1st year students performance of ICT Engineering Degrees (English track)

21.05.2020

The USQUID has carried out an analysis to find out the access profile of students who decide to study engineering in English, as well as their academic performance during the first academic year, and the results have been compared with those who do so in Catalan and / or or Spanish.

The academic courses analyzed are 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 and the variables considered:

- Access

- Access score

- Permanence regime

- Progression of studies

- Academic performance of the subjects of the 1st course

From the data collected, it is observed that, in general, the English group is more successful in obtaining the progression of studies and better performance in most first-year subjects, with some exceptions  concentred in 2018-19 academic course. It should be added that the averages in the access marks of Group 1 are higher than in the rest of the groups, although the deviations show less homogeneity in these marks compared to the groups in which the vehicular language of the degree is Catalan / Spanish.
