Once again, the Innovation Space (previously, USQUID) publishes a summary of our most relevant activities, studies and actions carried out during the last year, 2021.

As you know, the Innovation Space works on improving the teaching quality in our School, as well as on promoting innovative actions undertaken by teachers or proposed by the Direction of the School or ourselves. Moreover, we conduct analyses and publish reports on the monitoring, verification and accreditation processes of the degrees at our School, at all levels: undergraduate degrees, masters and doctorates. In 2021, the Innovation Space took part in different projects. Among these, we highlight an analysis of the various factors that influenced the students’ participation during 2020-2021. In those months, due to health restrictions, 100 % of the lectures at our School were online. In order to conduct the analysis, we produced several reports that gathered how the ICT undergraduate and master’s students rated their own participation during 2020-2021. We considered a range of different factors, which were divided into barriers and facilitators. Based on these reports, we performed a global analysis, titled “Comparative analysis of interaction in online and in-person classes among undergraduate and Master students: Barriers and Facilitators”, which was accepted and presented successfully at the XXIII International Symposium on Computers in Education (https://siie2021.adie.es/).

Also aiming at assessing teaching quality, we conducted a number of analyses to investigate how satisfied employers and alumni were regarding the ICT masters offered by the School. In this way, we encourage teachers to better know how teaching quality is perceived and assessed in the School so that these opinions may be considered for the improvement of the University study programmes.

We also published reports on ICT graduates and Biomedical Engineering, as well as on employment by analysing the data obtained from both the administration office of the School and LinkedIn.
