Functions

The Economic Area, headed by a deputy general manager, coordinates, promotes and evaluates the processes and actions related to the economy and budget, public procurement and management of the assets of the University. This Area directs and coordinates the Budget and Finance Service, the Infrastructure and Property Service and the Public Procurement Unit.

Curricula

Born in Barcelona in 1960. He graduated in Economic Sciences, specializing in General Economics, from the University of Barcelona (1983) and has a master’s degree in Public Governance and Management from ESADE (2006-2007). He has worked in the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) since March 1984, where among others, he has held the following offices: 1984-1991, at the Department of Trade, Consumer Affairs and Tourism, head of the Analysis and Documentation section, head of the Studies section, and head of the Financial Management service of the General Secretary’s office. In 1992, he held the post of head of the Financial and Administrative System of the Catalan Youth Services Institute. Between 1993 and 2002 he was the head of the International Promotion service and head of the Catalan Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism’s trade programme service. Between 2002 and 2004 he was the sub-director general of Services of the Catalan Home Office’s Traffic Service. Since 2004, he has held the office of general sub-director for Economic Management and Procurement of the Home Office.

Between 1993 and 2002, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Consortium for Commercial Promotion of Catalonia (COPCA), the Board of Trustees of the School of International Trade (ESCI) Consortium, and of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the School of Commerce and Distribution (ESCODI) Private Foundation.

 

He was appointed by the rector on 26 April 2018.
