Haize Lizarazu and Marta Azparren in residency with Cine Ciego

They will work on a new artistic research project during 2022
08.02.2022

Cine Ciego is a visual essay that investigates the relationship between scopic and political regime changes and the interruption of the flow of images. It shows the blindness, the monochrome, the interval of the pause in all aspects of aesthetic reception. Through four colours and four image-makers, we analyse how a certain dose of blindness is necessary to change the register of the images of the event in the current viral overexposure and how the absence of image returns to the emancipated spectator an awareness towards action.

The collaboration with Haize Lizarazu focuses on extending the research on the absence of image with sound, sound monochromy, silence, the pause in the flow of sound. The two artists will be in residence from January 2022, and will publicly present their work in the 2022-2023 season.

Haize Lizarazu is a pianist, performer and creator. Her career is focused on contemporary and experimental music, as well as artistic research. She studied at ESMUC (Barcelona), Basel Hochschule fur Music (Switzerland), UB and UdG. She is a member and co-director of CONTAINER Ensemble, with whom she has performed at several European festivals and venues. Particularly interested in the hybridisation of artistic disciplines, her work moves between sound and performance, giving special importance to the gestures of the musician in relation to her instrument.

Marta Azparren is a visual artist. She moves between experimental cinema, performance, live arts and drawing. Trained in Fine Arts and Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies, her work has been screened and awarded in numerous international film and video festivals, exhibitions and art fairs. His work proposes a meta-reflection on artistic activity with special attention to the connections between the creator, the spectator, the work of art and the internal machinery of mediation, production and exhibition. The gaze is directed towards the non-visual in the visual, the emptiness of the absent, the discarded, which does not happen. A documentation of the margins.

Manifest
