Over 800 online edX courses with free certificate for the UPF community
Until 30 June 2020 all members of the university community will have free access to the online courses of universities such as Harvard or Berkeley.
UPF has signed an agreement with the edX platform of online MOOC courses whereby members of the university community can get the free certificate of a course of choice from the selection of courses on the platform. These courses do not require payment of a registration fee, and the free certificate obtained (which with this agreement may mean savings of up to $450.00) can be included in your curriculum as proof of an ability or a skill learned or training received, depending on the type of course.
The offer consists of more than 800 free MOOCs by prestigious international universities including Harvard, Berkeley and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). There are courses in all fields, communication, law, economics and finance, engineering, history, humanities, literature, etc. and you need not be an expert in the subject as courses are available for various levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Also, the courses are available in several languages: English, French, Italian, etc., and also in Spanish.
To get the free certificate, you must request an access code and register for a course no later than 30 June 2020. You can request one code per person, which entitles you to just the one course. A waiting list will be set up for members of the university community who wish to register for more courses and will therefore need more codes to obtain the corresponding free certificates. Note, however, that even if the courses you are interest in start later, you must register before 30 June for the certificate to be free.
You can now make your application by sending an email to [email protected] and you will receive your code and registration instructions.
edX grants UPF access to information on the courses to which users enroll based on this agreement and their progress level. UPF will use this information solely and exclusively for statistical purposes to know the outcome of the action.
