SafeICP, new project coordinated by ICFO, with the participation of Gemma Piella, for the diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy of neuronal pathologies

SafeICP proposes a novel bed-side photonics platform, enhanced by machine-learning (ML), to estimate both the low frequency fluctuations and the absolute values of the intracranial pressure

SafeICP proposes to develop and test a safe, bed-side, easy-to-operate, low-cost monitor of microvascular cerebral blood flow (CBF) enhanced by machine-learning (ML) to estimate both the low frequency fluctuations and the absolute values of the intracranial pressure (ICP).

The project, funded under the call for Strategic Projects managed by the Spanish Research Agency under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Framework.

SafeICP is coordinated by the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO, experts in physics and biophotonics, led by Turgut Durduran), and has the collaboration of experts in machine-learning and signal processing (Gemma Piella, DTIC-UPF), the future clinical translation with an industrial partner for expertise in laser safety, standards, and protocols (Silvestre, PCL), and developed and tested with clinical experts (Poca & Sahuquillo, VHIR).
