The BCN MedTech Research Unit of Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) has defined a new computational model to identify the causes of osteoarthritis in each patient and to be able to personalize treatments for the future. UPF researcher Jérôme Noailly explained that the factors that cause osteoarthritis, the most common joint disease, can be different in each person and defining this model allows us to identify the specific causes that cause or accelerate it in each patient.
"With the techniques that have existed so far, it is complex for doctors to determine the causes that have caused osteoarthritis in each patient and decide on the most appropriate treatment," added Noailly.
