This is a project funded by the European Commission, a support and coordination action in the Societal Challenges 6 of Horizon 2020, that tries to influence the role that virtual museums can play in the economical and social progress.

The consortium is comprised of seven members (universities, research centers and enterprises) from seven different European countries, coordinated by the Cyprus University of Technology. It has the support of a consultant board comprised of internationally renowed public and private organizations related to the cultural sector.

The aim of this project is to establish local and international work groups that, taking into account different specific dimensions of virtual museums, and by means of a powerfil online communication platform, define strategies, policies abnd procedure of desicion related to creation and evaluation of virtual museums.

The Pompeu Fabra University will take the "Demand" aspect: based on different case studies (among which there is Catalonia) will explore and define how virtual museums han contribute to the economical growth and the social development in the framework of public function of cultural heritage.
