This line of research examines the combined advance and implementation of complexity science and political economy using a broad range of knowledge and transdisciplinary tools (e.g., critical historical thinking, system dynamics, agent-based models). Our work falls within the following three main broad themes:

- Complex historical and political economy appraisals of health equity.

- Complex systems modelling analyses.

- Conceptual diagrams and integrated research approaches

Topics we explore with our research include: the complex factors involved in generating health inequalities in countries under neoliberal policies and long-term conflicts such as Puerto Rico and Colombia respectively, the systemic analysis of COVID-19 using a complex science lens, and the generation of causal loop diagrams.
