An application shows all information relevant to a photograph via the Internet

Thanks to Pic2News, developed by Soner Sukru Altin, a PhD student with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DTIC) under the supervision of professor Ricardo Baeza-Yates, along with Nazire Aslan, and winner of one of the grand prizes offered by Microsoft’s Cloud AI Research Challenge.

The Microsoft Cloud AI Research Challenge launched a call for projects with the challenge of showing which Microsoft services best solve complex problems. Of all the proposals received from throughout the world, the jury chose six finalists in turn winners of one of the prizes of the call that were shared between two first prizes, one second and one third prize and the jury even decided to award two fourth prizes.

One of the two grand prizes endowed with 25,000 USD each, went to the app Pic2News, developed by Soner Sukru Altin, a PhD student with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DTIC) at UPF, and Nazire Aslan.
