A group of students from the School of Engineering visit Cisco Systems
The visit is part of the "We visit companies" programme organised by the School of Engineering
Last Monday 20th November, a group of 26 students from the School of Engineering, with degrees in Computer Engineering, Audiovisual Systems, Telecommunication Networks and Data Science Mathematics visited the company Cisco Systems, located in the Can el Alier building in Poblenou.
The visit consisted of an explanation of the innovation activities that Cisco is carrying out in international and local projects in the city of Barcelona. Accompanied by Semyon Ovsyannikov and Xavier Azemar, the students were able to see and experiment with systems and applications developed by this company.
Cisco Systems has made a strong commitment to Barcelona, locating the first microchip design centre in the European Union. The first designers and an international team are already in place, and will be added to in the coming months.
The "visiting companies" programme is an initiative of the UPF School of Engineering, coordinated by Carles Martín and Miquel Oliver. In addition to Cisco Systems, this year we will visit the Barcelona Cable Landing station, the arrival point for transoceanic fibres and the DE-CIX global Internet centre. Registration here.
