UPF has six studies among the 250 best universities in the world, in line with the latest global ranking of the same association, which determines that Pompeu Fabra is the 186th. best university in the world.

The Times Higher Education (THE) ranking by subject relative to 2023, made public today Tuesday, has placed Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in very good positions in six of the eleven areas analyzed. In this sense, UPF has six studies among the 250 best universities in the world, in line with the latest global ranking of the same association, which determines that Pompeu Fabra is the 186th. best university in the world.

In the eleven subjects analyzed, UPF obtains excellent positions among the first 100 in Economics and Business (ranked 85th) and Law (also ranked 85th). In addition, Pompeu Fabra obtains good results in Social Sciences (151-175th), Arts and Humanities (176-200th), Clinical and Health (201-250th) and Engineering (201-250th).

The methodology used in the thematic rankings is based on the same thirteen performance indicators as the general ranking of THE. The indicators are distributed among five major areas, which, from more to less relative weight, are the following: Teaching, Research, Citations, Internationalization and Knowledge Transfer. The value of the indicators is readjusted to adapt to the various disciplines, and varies depending on each of the eleven areas analyzed.

The data made public confirm the good positioning of the UPF in the rankings of THE. A few weeks ago, the World University Rankings published every year by THE confirmed that Pompeu Fabra University remains globally one of the 200 best universities in the world, since in the annual report it appeared in position 186. The THE ranking is drawn up from a series of thirteen indicators, which measure five specific areas: teaching, research, citations, internationalization and knowledge transfer. Based on these five areas , a global position and score is given for each university. This year there were 1,799 universities evaluated.

Previously, in February this year, THE published its Young University Rankings 2022, which includes the world's best university centres under 50 years old. In this edition, the UPF was considered the 16th. best university in the world, the eighth in Europe and the first in Spain. This ranking classifies the 800 best young universities from around the world and, since it began to be published in 2012, UPF has always occupied very prominent positions.
