Introducing new tenure-track professors: Amorino, Korovkin, and Conte
The three new professors bring a wide variety of research interests and academic experience

The UPF Department of Economics and Business is honoured to introduce three accomplished academics who will join the faculty as tenure-track professors in the coming year. Their dedication to scholarship, innovative research, and teaching will undoubtedly serve to strengthen the continued success of the Department.
Firstly, joining in September 2023, Vasily Korovkin, an applied microeconomist, comes from his research position at CERGE-EI in Prague, shared by Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences. He gained his PhD in Economics from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 2018. Prof. Korovkin's primary research areas cover development economics, political economy, applied econometrics, and trade. His expertise lies in firms and firm linkages in developing and middle-income countries.
In January 2024, Prof. Bruno Conte will join department. With a PhD in Economics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) in 2021, Prof. Conte brings a multi-faceted approach to economic studies, with research interests in international trade, economic geography, and environmental and development economics.
Lastly, in April 2024 we will welcome Prof. Chiara Amorino, who is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg. She earned her PhD in 2020 at the Laboratoire de Mathématiques et Modélisation d'Evry (LaMME), Université Paris-Saclay. Prof. Amorino's research primarily covers statistical inference for stochastic differential equations, and spans a wide array of studies, methods, and data.
While each professor comes from a different background and with diverse research interests, they all bring a shared commitment to furthering the field. We hope the university community will join us in warmly welcoming these incredibly talented academics into their new roles.
