UPF Economics PhD alumni Milena Djourelova has been selected to participate in this year's prestigious Restud Tour, and will present her research at three North American locations.

Milena completed her PhD in Economics at the UPF in 2021, and is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago. She will join Cornell as an Assistant Professor of Economics in 2023. Her research interests include applied economics and political economy. A committee of board members nominated Milena, along with Nicolas Bonneton (Toulouse), Elisa Macchi (Zurich), and Lukasz Rachel (LSE), to participate in this year's Restud Tour.

The Restud Tour has been conducted annually since 1989, and invites top economics job market candidates to present their research at various North American locations. The tour has the aim of showcasing excellent job market candidates from European institutions. This year the tour will involve visits to the University of California San Diego (UCSD), the University of Chicago, and the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn).

The Restud Tour is hosted by the Review of Economic Studies, an academic journal covering economics published by Oxford University Press. Established in 1933, the journal is widely considered one of the top 5 journals in economics. Every year, in line with the journal's tradition of encouraging the work of young economists, some of the most promising graduating doctoral students in economics and finance in the world are selected to present their research in the tour.

This is not the first UPF PhD alumni to participate in the tour. In 2011 Peter Koudijs was also nominated for the tour.
