UPF is considered the fourth-highest performing university in the Spanish State, according to the CyD 2020 ranking, conducted by the Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollo (CyD), and comes in prominent positions for Research and Teaching and learning.

The ranking, now in its seventh edition, analyses 76 Spanish universities -3 more than last year (48 public and 28 private)-, representing 94% of the 81 institutions that offer undergraduate degrees. It includes 2,925 degrees, belonging to 25 different areas of knowledge.

The list includes a total of 37 indicators (classified based on three levels of performance: high, medium and low), across five dimensions: Teaching and learning, Research, Knowledge transfer, International outreach and Contribution to regional development.

UPF obtains high performance for 25 indicators, improving on the results of the previous edition

UPF obtains high performance for 25 indicators, improving on the results of the previous edition (22). This puts the University in fourth place overall, tied for high performance indicators with the universities of Barcelona and Navarra, in second and third place, respectively. The UAB ranks first with 28.

Among the five dimensions of the ranking, the University stands out especially for Research, for which it tops the standings. In addition, for Teaching and learning it also achieves good scores and is among the leading group.

An interactive tool that adapts to different target audiences

The ranking by the Fundación CyD, which uses the philosophy of the EC’s U-Multirank, made on the basis of relative indicators, aims to be an interactive and comparative tool where it is the user who seeks and selects the universities based on categories that s/he deems important.

It is designed to provide information and decision-making criteria both for future students, university administrators, lecturers, researchers, public authorities, companies and other social stakeholders wishing to establish links with a university. The data included in the analysis come from various sources, with the aim of facilitating broad and comprehensive information: data provided by the institutions directly, data from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, bibliometric and patent data.
