01.08.2016

UPF Business and Economics Department Prof Helena Ramalhinho Lourenço will participate as an expert in a new pan-EU project titled the European Network for Collaboration on Kidney Exchange Programmes (ENCKEP). The project is expected to have substantial impact in the medical, socioeconomic, technological, and scientific domains.

ENCKEP aims to bring together European policy makers, clinicians, and operational optimisation experts to improve national and international kidney donation and exchange programmes. 35 key experts will participate in the project, contributing with knowledge of mathematics, computer and information sciences, clinical medicine, and health service operations.

The expert pool represents 15 European countries plus Australia and the United States. Prof Ramalhinho's research focus on operations, production, logistics and management makes her an ideal addition to the ENCKEP expert group. She is a full Professor in the UPF Department of Economics and Business.

Besides being involved in various other research projects and consulting, Prof Ramalhinho is currently the director of the Business Analytics Research Group (BARG) and a researcher at the Center for Operational Research at the University of Lisbon. She has published several articles in prestigious international scientific journals and has presented work at international congresses and conferences.
