Guillem López Casasnovas, Professor of Economy in the Department of Economics and Business at the UPF and founder of the UPF Centre for Research in Health and Economic (CRES), has been distinguished with the Cross of Saint Jordi, one of the highest recognitions that the Government of Catalonia can bestow. An award ceremony will take place on 26 April 2016 in the governmental palace.

Prof. López Casasnovas is one of the 27 persons and 13 entities that will receive the distinction this year. The medal was created in 1981 with the purpose of recognising exemplary services to Catalonia in support of the country’s identity or in civil or cultural spheres.

The government recognises Prof. López Casasnovas for "his contributions to economic science, with lines of investigation in the efficiency of the public sector, and his review of the sanitary field, the fiscal scales between autonomous communities, and local inland revenues."
